"A couple who plays together, stays together!"                Gayle & John have been married for over 40 years and enjoy the craft of creating "unique little pieces of art" with each and every pen that they turn.

Welcome to our page, let us tell you a little about ourselves and why we do what we do:
We design, create, and uniquely craft each pen by hand. We started the shop after Gayle attended a class on Penmaking 101 at the BSA High Adventure Base, Philmont Training Center, where John was teaching a course. A couple of months later we purchased a lathe and began learning how to turn pens by watching numerous videos and reading many articles on the subject. One can only keep so many pens so we started giving them away to friends and family. Once we felt that our pens were good enough we opened LatheLifeCreations on Etsy, and the rest is history.

John stays true to the art and enjoys making the classic pen styles mainly out of beautiful wood, some which are very rare pieces. Kat, our daughter, joined us a few years ago and adds a fun and funky twist to the basic pen designs. Gayle has experimented with different Alumilite resins and her pressure pot to create some very interesting acrylic pens. One of her specialties is unique photo pens, where she incorporates photos and clear acrylic resin to form one-of-a-kind art pieces, but she doesn't limit herself to just resin, she also loves to create with spectraply and other wood products.

We love our little hobby business and enjoy making each and every unique piece of art!
